How to get a transcript from a TikTok video
Updated
Paste the video link into the transcript downloader; the text of its captions appears with Copy and Download buttons.
Steps
- Copy the link of a TikTok video that has captions.
- Paste it into the transcript downloader and click Get transcript.
- Use Copy transcript, or Download .txt to save it as a text file.
Open “Show with timestamps” to see each caption line with the time it starts. When timing is available you can also download .srt and .vtt subtitle files.
Which videos have a transcript
The transcript is read from the captions TikTok has for the video. If a video has no captions — often music-only clips, photo slideshows or videos where captions weren’t generated — there is no transcript to show. The page tells you this instead of guessing. Why a transcript may be unavailable covers the details.
Accuracy
Many TikTok captions are generated automatically, so names, slang and fast speech can be wrong. Treat the transcript as a draft and check quotes against the video.
Want the gist rather than every word? The video summarizer writes a short summary with key points.
